Lucknow, Jan 12: The controversy related to saffronisation of buildings in Uttar Pradesh seems to be spreading from the capital to remote village areas in Samajwadi Party bastion now.
After the recent story of changing the colour of Haj committee office in the capital, now a village chief got 100 toilets painted saffron in Etawah’s Kripalpur village.
When asked about it, Vedpal Singh Nayak, the young village chief (Gram Pradhan) of Kripalpur said that the idea was suggested by the village people themselves.
“When BJP government has been formed not only in Uttar Pradesh but also in the nation, what is the problem if toilets are also painted in their colour, “said Vedpal Singh nonchalantly.
Recently, the UP Haj committee office outer walls in Lucknow were painted saffron but after much hue and cry and criticism, the paint was removed.
In the month of December, around 100 government primary schools were painted saffron. However, when the issue was highlighted in the media and the Yogi Adityanath government was accused of imposing a saffron identity on institutions, the schools were whitewashed again.
