Mumbai, January 10: Sam Billings 93 runs innings helped England to defeat Dhoni lead India A by three wickets in the first warm-up match at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
Batting first, India posted a total of 304-5 with Ambati Rayudu slamming an unbeaten tone.
Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan (63), Yuvraj Singh (56) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (68*) helped India to cross 300 mark.
Chasing the 304 target, England started off well as openers Roy (62) and Alex Hales (40) scored 95 runs for the first wicket before Hales was sent back to pavilion by Kuldeep Yadav in the 15th over,
Kuldeep gave India a hope by dismissing Skipper Eon Morgan, Jose Buttler and Moeen Ali but the 99 runs partnership between Billings and Dawson put India back in command and later the lower ordere batsman completed the formalities to give England a boost before the start of ODI series.
For India, Kuldeep was the pick of the bowlers, he took five wickets for 60 runs.
