Indore, January 11: In what seems like a blatant violation of norms, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Madhya Pradesh has allotted 40 acres of land to Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev in Pithampur industrial area. Ramdev is said to be close to MP chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Taking notice of the alleged serious violations, the business bench of High Court of MP in Indore comprising of Justice PK Jaiswal and Justice Virendra Singh sought an explanation from the Shivraj government.
Speaking to India Samvad on phone, senior advocate Anand Mohan Mathur alleged that norms were thrown to wind while allotting 40 acres of land to Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurveda. Mathur revealed that no tender was called by the state government while allocating land worth several crores.
Besides allocation of the land, the government has further obliged baba Ramdev by assuring him that his products will be sold through ration shops and cooperative societies. Advocate Mathur was of the view that the government should have been transparent and a clean procedure for the allocation of land should have been followed.
Mathur told India Samvad, "The land was allotted before October 2016 and once we came to know about it, we filed several RTIs to seek information from the government regarding the procedure of allotting land to Baba Ramdev but the government did not answer out queries. Therefore, we had to file a petition in the High Court."
