Ranchi : The rival JD(U) criticised the presence of two personal aids of Lalu Prasad to serve him, hours before the RJD supremo was lodged there, after being convicted in a fodder scam case. The news to this effect was appeared in some media reports. The RJD jumped in defence of its leader and said that the presence of the two, Laxman Mahto and Madan Yadav was a mere coincidence. Mahto and Yadav, were charged with minor offences, were claimed to be serving Lalu as his helper and cook.
The Superintendent of Birsa Munda Central Jail, where Lalu is lodged since December 23 after his conviction in a fodder scam case related to fraudulent with drawl of Rs.89.27 lakh from the Deoghar treasury 21 years ago, could not be reached for the comments. Neeraj Kumar spokesman of the JD(U) latched an attack on RJD leader. He issued a statement in Patna saying, ‘Lalu is a person with feudal mind set who could make his party workers to go to any extent to serve his personal interest.” He further said, “This shows that Lalu commitment to social justice is a shame and he cares only for himself and his family members.”
Reacting to the averments of JD(U) Shakti Singh Yadav rubbished the allegation that the Lalu managed to send his two aids behind bars to serve him. He said that their presence in the jail was coincidental and that the two had criminal case against them. However the nature of offences for which they were in jail was not clear yet. The RJD spokesperson asked those making the allegations that Mahto and Yadav were serving Lalu in jail to come up with evidence. They should show any video footage of the two serving the Lalu, he said.
When he was asked if he would like an inquiry in to the matter, Shakti shot back ‘why, they had been sent to jail by the police after an inquiry and it is for the administration to say anything on it.
