New Delhi, March 20: A 25-year-old man, said to be an AAP youth wing leader has been arrested for a robbery worth Rs 25 lakh and other valuables.
Najeeb, along with his associates has been arrested for the robbing in Jaffrabad. While he is dubbed as the president of AAP youth wing in Jaffrabad, the party denied its links with the robber.
The incident took place on March 12 in Jaffrabad, when a person alleged that he was robbed of his bag containing Rs 25 lakh, a mobile phone and other documents at gunpoint.
As per his allegations, a passerby also sustained gunshot injuries in the attack. One of the passersby caught accused from the spot. His associates including Najeeb, who managed to escape from the spot, were later arrested.
As per Indian Express report, Rs 16,06,000, a country-made pistol, a motorcycle were recovered from the robbers. The accused are involved in 20 other cases of robberies and snatching in the areas of Civil Lines, Bada Hindu Rao, Pushta Usmanpur, Seelampur, Jaffrabad and Dilshad Garden.
AAP denied its links with the robber and instead blamed Delhi Police.
“The accused is not our office-bearer. He has nothing to do with our youth wing. Delhi Police always tries to find AAP connection everywhere,” said Vandana Singh, AAP youth wing in-charge.
Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari jumped into the matter and said that the “party has become an abode of anti-social elements”.
