New Delhi, December 28: It took almost 112 years for Vivekananda's 'wisdom' to enlighten the seat of government in Delhi. The only flabbergasting fact remained that the people who enlightened the government were not the monks of the Ramakrishna Mission but the mandarins of the government.
Defined the general perception that Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) influences PM Modi's decisions, the truth remains that most of the PM Modi's important policy decisions are being affected by the retired bureaucrats who have been the core members of Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF).
There are several panjandrums of BJP in Delhi who are RSS veterans and have years of experience but nobody acknowledges them. On the contrary, if you are from VIF, the Modi government would be keen to welcome you onboard. The Vivekananda International Foundation is a right-wing Indian public policy think-tank which was founded by India's James Bond aka National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
After retiring from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) in 2005, Doval initiated a career in which he came forward as a think-tank. With the help of Kerala-based Vivekananda Kendra, Doval laid the foundation stone of VIF in Delhi's Chanakyapuri. The foundation was opened up on the land allotted by the government to Vivekananda Kendra a few years back.
Once again, the murmurs of VIF can be heard in the power corridors of Delhi because one of its member- Anil Baijal has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor (L-G) of the capital. He has served as Union Home Secretary under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government and is also a former vice chairman of Delhi Development Authority.
He has also served as additional home secretary in the Information and Broadcasting, MD of Indian Airlines, CEO of Prasar Bharati Corporation. He was responsible for the introduction of DD Bharti. Anil Baijal is considered a close aide of NSA Ajit Doval. Now, in the war against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Doval will move the strings of Anil Baijal from behind the scenes.
Earlier, VIF has given PM Modi his Principal Secretary in the name of Nripendra Misra, who is a former Executive Council member of the foundation. Thereafter, Nripendra and Doval proposed the name of A Surya Prakash for the post of Prasar Bharti's head.
Without even blinking his eyes, PM Modi agreed to offer the key of government-controlled radio and television channel to Surya Prakash. That's not it! The editor of VIF's mouthpiece, KG Suresh was appointed as the DG of country's most reputed media institute IIMC.
Astonishingly, to no one's notice, two members of Modi government's real 'Margdarshak Mandal,' NITI Aayog- VK Saraswat and renowned economist Bibek Debroy also hail from VIF. Other than NITI Aayog's Vice-President Arvind Panagariya and CEO Amitabh Kant, these two VIF members play a crucial role in running the organisation.
