London, January 9: A new organ in the human body has been detected named mesentery which is located in our digestive system. It's shape and size is not yet cleared.
Earlier the organ was considered as a connection between intestine and abdomin but later on it was discovered that it's a different organ.
Scientists believe that with the help of this organ it will be easy to understand and treat the problems related to digestive system.
John Calvin Coffeey, Professor of Surgery in University of Limerick first discovered the organ and he is very excited about it.
His research was first published in The Lancet (UK medical journal).
The existence of the mesentery isn’t a complete surprise. Doctors have always known it was there but it was thought there were several mesenteries keeping your insides secure.
Instead, work by Coffey and his colleagues on patients who have had their colons removed was able to prove that it was one continuous structure.
Apart from heart, liver, lungs and kidneys there are 74 other major organs which are intended to maintain our physical process and keep us healthy.
