New Delhi, January 10: An hour of complete horror empowered Delhi after a 37-year-old man killed his father and then created havoc in the society by setting neighbour's house on the blaze.
The accused Rahul Matta killed father R P Matta, attacked a neighbour who intervened, and then locked himself inside the neighbour's kitchen. In an attempt to escape the police, he switched on the gas connection and lit a matchstick that injured 11 policemen, when they entered the house after breaking the door.
The shocking incident sent chills to many, who ended up cursing Rahul for his satanic sins.
However, the bigger question that everyone missed was the reason Rahul dared to do what no one had ever imagined. The traits he showed were not of a mentally healthy person, but of a depressed man who turned into a psycho killer.
The man was dismissed twice from the post of merchant navy officer. Rahul was definitely bright in the studies as reaching that post does need a lot of construction. However, unemployment was not the actual reason, but a minor one for his rage.
During an interrogation, Rahul revealed to police that he had "extreme hatred" for his father. The reason behind it was a troubled childhood, as Rahul was disowned by his father who got married to a divorcee with two kids.
A child, who is disowned by his father, who is watching her mother in a devastated state, can't leave a peaceful childhood like many others. The mental health, which is ignored by a huge mass of Indians, has turned out to be the most threatening crime of the era.
Repeated incidents of suicides and murders of family members are the reason that mental health is the prime focus of WHO for the year 2017. Rajya Sabha has also passed the mental health bill, which will look into such matters.
Rahul, who had sustained injuries to his hand, has been sent to 14 days judicial custody by the court. The judgement in the case will be a crucial effect on the worsening mental health among youth.
Meanwhile, Rahul's mother Vibha, who is an asthma patient, is in deep shock after the incident and was taken to a hospital on Monday after her condition worsened in the night.
