New Delhi, April 13: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath just made an unexpected announcement which might receive a lot of opposition from Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party.
Taking an initiative which was awaited by many, CM Yogi announced to end quota based reservations in private medical and dental colleges of the state.
An order has been passed to do away with the quota for candidates belonging to SC, ST and OBCs categories.
Other initiatives in the education sector include introduction of English from Nursery, which was earlier compulsory from class 6.
He told a website, "The traditional and the modern should blend. We should have an education system which promotes nationalism but is modern.''
Yogi has issued directions to the state officials for making a yoga education programme compulsory in government schools.
In addition, he had directed to make self-defence training mandatory for girl students.
Yogi government also wants to ensure that students learn at least one foreign language.
