New Delhi, January 7: Days after the Election Commission of India announced the moral code of conduct in poll-bound state, three Bharatiya Janata Party leaders were booked in Varanasi for its violation.
The leader reportedly put posters and banners on the roadside in Varanasi.
Three including former MLA and BJP leader Rajkumar Gautam were accused of putting up posters and banners on the roadside between Pahariya and Ashapur route in Varanasi on Friday.
Although the police removed the posters from the roadside two days ago as a warning, the leaders replaced them on the same spot.
Following the violation, the three were booked for violating the model code of conduct on Friday night.
EC has announced seven-phase poll in UP which will take place between February 11 to March 8.
